A mixed media art making group taught by local art educator Suzanne Schroder
Mixed media art making is a playful, creative process that involves layering up different art materials, methods, and techniques to create richly coloured and textured art pieces.
It's a wonderful way to explore your creativity as you will get to try all sorts of materials and processes to discover your unique style. Mixed media is great for beginners and those who want to broaden a creative practice as it's suitable for all skills levels - and there are endless ways to reuse and up cycle any mishaps and experiments!
Each week you will work on different a mixed media art project on loose journal pages which you can build up to create your own art book - or frame your projects to display!
Materials are provided each week, but you will need to bring along:
- An apron to protect your clothing (and optional gloves if you don't paint on your hands)
- A pencil case with a pair of scissors, a glue stick, a pencil and pen
You are also welcome to bring any interesting pieces of paper or images to use in your projects and any favourite art supplies you'd like to work with.
Day and time: Classes run on Tuesday's at 10:30 am - 12:30pm
Venue: This class is held at Cessnock Masonic centre on Cumberland st
Cost: classes are $30 per lesson or $100 for a four class pass.
Suzanne is a dressmaker and mixed media artists. She has been sewing for 40 years and has studied Fashion and Fine Art. Her most recent venture is suzzimaggs.com, a website for selling her upcycled bags and other items and also her platform for blogging. She is happiest when she is creating things.
